Calling Before You Dig Can Save Your Life

Call before you dig

Digging in unmarked ground is very dangerous. Call 811 Monday – Friday, from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., to have utility lines marked before you dig.

Electric, gas, water and wastewater service lines, as well as telephone and cable television lines are almost certainly buried near your property. GRU is a member of Sunshine State One Call of Florida, Inc., which exists to protect you and those facilities.

Your single call to 811 will alert all member operators in your area and they will respond within two days, not including the day you call, to mark the location of their facilities — FREE!  GRU uses highly-visible yellow paint and/or flags as markings for natural gas lines.

For an after-hours emergency, call GRU at 352-334-2550 and every effort will be made to locate facilities in a timely manner.
