Electric rate incentive for new and expanding businesses
GRU's Economic Development Rate is an incentive for larger business customers who want to establish or expand their presence in Gainesville. The program is open to new and existing General Service, Demand and Large Power Service customers who meet certain criteria.
Program Details
New Businesses
- 20-percent discount on base rates for a 5-year term.
- Customer must use at least 100,000 kWh of electricity per month.
- All qualifying usage must be through a single meter point.
- Customer must have an electric demand of 50 kW or higher per month.
- Discount does not apply to fuel adjustment charges.
- Discount can be used in conjunction with the existing Retained, Expanded or Attracted Load (REAL) incentive.
- GRU may terminate the rate agreement if customer does not meet minimum requirements.
Expanding Businesses
- 15-percent discount on base rates for a 5-year term.
- Customer must increase baseline energy usage by 20 percent or more, resulting in a monthly energy usage of at least 100,000 kWh.
- All qualifying usage must be through a single meter point.
- Customer must have an electric demand of 50 kW or higher per month.
- Discount does not apply to fuel adjustment charges.
- Discount can be used in conjunction with the existing Retained, Expanded or Attracted Load (REAL) incentive.
- GRU may terminate the rate agreement if customer does not meet minimum requirements.
