Director's Welcome Letter

You don’t need to spend much time in Gainesville to understand how truly special this area is. On any given time in any place – from downtown to Paynes Prairie – you will find all types of people living, working and enjoying life together.

GRU is fortunate to work with so many wonderful people, organizations and institutions that are committed to helping us advance our values and allow us to be an active participant in the betterment of our community.

GRU’s Community Relations department does many things, including:

  • Serve as an information resource and point of contact for customers, community groups, and elected officials.
  • Seek opportunities to leverage GRU’s financial and human resources to make Gainesville a better place.

  • Lead and participate in the identification and resolution of issues of community concern.

  • Promote GRU as a resource to the community as well as to city, county, and state officials.

  • Serve as GRU’s ombudsman.

  • Develop programs that meet the emerging needs of customers and communities.

  • Manage GRU’s participation in charitable campaigns and fundraisers.

Our department’s activities are guided by our mission and values and our community relations strategy, which helps us stay focused on being a good community partner while making a positive impact in the communities where we live and do business.

As an organization, GRU is committed to helping Gainesville live up to its greatest potential. We help each other we will all succeed and improve together.

Sincerely,

S. Yvette Carter
Chief Inclusion Officer
