How Much Do Your Appliances Really Cost?
Estimate the real operating cost of commonly used household appliances to determine how you can conserve energy and save money. The handheld Kill-a-Watt EZ meters, donated by GRU to the Alachua County Library District, calculate the amount of electricity used by individual home appliances and equipment.
How They Work
Plug an appliance into the meter to see how many kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity it uses. Each meter comes pre-programmed with GRU rates so you can estimate the appliance's operating cost over hours, days, weeks, months and even years. The meter can also detect the amount of electricity some equipment uses when turned off.
